And here, is my response to his post:
Steve,
You have in absolutely no way failed. I am devastated to hear this heart-breaking news.
I was born in 1980. In 1983, I decided to work for Kermit the Frog. In 2000, I did. I was an intern at The Jim Henson Company when the Charlie Chaplin Studio was christened. I met Kermit at the press conference on Friday (Kermit said, "I had to have them make me a custom [hard] hat; everyone was mistaking me for a turtle.") On Saturday, during the company party, I waited in a long line for a photo with Kermit. When I got to the front of the line, Kermit said, "Hey, I remember you! You're Libby, the Pictures Intern!"
Oh. My. God. That Kermit the Frog- my inspiration- remembered my name was (and remains) one of the best and most memorable moments of my life! (I still have my hard hat, Henson's Mission Statement on my desk, and my throwing penguins).
I ALSO met you at that party: eloquent, wonderful and fun. ;) I am so grateful for you and all the love and energy you have brought to the Muppets. You succeeded. I am deeply disappointed that the Muppet family failed you. "Keep believing, keep pretending...." and "When in doubt, throw penguins."
